چکیده

Essential oils (EOs) are acclaimed for their antimicrobial properties, leading to multiple applications in various fields. In this work, four aromatic plants were used, namely thyme (Thymus mastichina L.), everlasting (Helychrysum stoechas Moench), European pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium L.) and fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.). Hydrodistillation was the extraction method obtained extracts composed of a variety volatile molecules, mainly terpenoids phenylpropenoids. The EO yields determined, chemical composition these natural products by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. varied greatly range 0.99 4.27% (v/w). two major constituents EOs analysed GC-MS as follows: – 1,8-cineole champhor; ?-pinene limonene; pulegone isomenthone; trans-anethole limonene. This preliminary study is an important contribution understanding bioactive compounds that under investigation establish ability control biocolonization cultural heritage.

Chemical Identifications of Citrus Peels Essential Oils

ABSTRACT: Due to the importance of essential oils and their use in various industries, the essential oils of four types of citrus consisting of orange (C. sinesis), tangerine (C. reticulate), sweet lemon (C. limetta) and sour lemon (C. limon) were extracted and subjected to chemical analysis to identify and evaluate the chemical constituents of the oils. The average essential oils of orange, ta...

Cymbopogon essential oils: Chemical compositions and bioactivities

The genus Cymbopogon (Poaceae) is most important from the point of view of their essential oils. Essential oils from these species are widely used in flavours, fragrances, cosmetics, soaps, detergents and perfumery owing to their typical lemon and rose-like aroma. Cymbopogon essential oils and constituents present therein e.g. citral, geraniol, citronellol, citronellal and piperitone, have been...

Essential Oils’ Chemical Characterization and Investigation of Some Biological Activities: A Critical Review

This review covers literature data summarizing, on one hand, the chemistry of essential oils and, on the other hand, their most important activities. Essential oils, which are complex mixtures of volatile compounds particularly abundant in aromatic plants, are mainly composed of terpenes biogenerated by the mevalonate pathway. These volatile molecules include monoterpenes (hydrocarbon and oxyge...

Anti-Inflammatory Properties and Chemical Characterization of the Essential Oils of Four Citrus Species

Citrus fruits have potential health-promoting properties and their essential oils have long been used in several applications. Due to biological effects described to some citrus species in this study our objectives were to analyze and compare the phytochemical composition and evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of essential oils (EO) obtained from four different Citrus species. Mice were trea...
